What is Cyber Security and Why Do I Need It?

Cyber Security is the protection of your personal information from theft by malicious actors that want to use the information to steal from you, make other people think they are you, or manipulate the information to their advantage.

This information includes usernames, passwords,

credit card, and banking information.

Unlike the big box stores and faceless 800 number representatives you don’t know or not sure you can trust, you can count on a personalized experience from the services we offer.

How Can Someone Get My Information?

Your information can be stolen from e-mail, smart phones, smart tv's, video doorbells, security systems, your computer, or you simply give the bad guys your information without realizing it.

One way is called Phishing:

The bad actor throws out a hook and see if you bite!

The hook could be a email about an item you want to purchase or something you have researched online.

Another example is a notice that pops up on your device saying "You have a virus!! Don't close this window!"

If you click on the link or call the number they provide, you are then "On The Hook."

But They Said They Were With .........

These guys are good!!!!!

They will do and say anything to try to convince you to give them YOUR information.

Social Security # \ Bank name \ Mothers name

or answers to other security questions you may have.

Everything they say is mostly LIES!!

They are trying to trick you and are very convincing!

Microsoft isn't going to call you. Amazon won't call you. And you don't get a Jury Summons by e-mail. And they ABSOLUTELY won't get on a 3 way call with you and your bank!

There are lots of scams claiming to "HELP" you. They can use the information to get into your network in your home and turn on cameras so they can watch you. This means webcams, security cameras, ring doorbell cameras, or even telephone cameras.

If you get a pop up saying to call a number, DON'T! If your computer starts talking to you, SHUT IT DOWN! If you get a call and can't CLEARLY understand the person on the other end, HANG UP!! Then, call PCD Cyber immediately!! It's possible they may already be in your system.

Every once in a while we all tend to run across a business that totally surprises and delights you! P.C. Doctor in Waco is just one such business.

We had recently ordered a custom-made laptop from one of the major manufactures and in less than two months it totally and completely died. While the maker agreed to build another model to our specifications, we ran into another issue with retrieving our files and data off of the Optane H10/SSD.
